Default Broken Odometer

I have a analog odometer which has died on me. I know the best way to fix is to grab another guage cluster and swap it out. But has anyone fixed this without swaping it all the way out?

I was planning to swap it out and installing reverse glow guages on the new one before putting it in. BUT I was not planning on doing it for a bit because money is tight. Is there a cheaper way to fix it?

the gears are probably broken so it would probably be easier just to swap it out
