I assuminhg that the 97-98 gt 8.8 has the lsd and everything. Since i have a 97, i get the same gen gt rear end for mine.

Sorry to leech on the thread but wanted to ask this real quick and did not want to flood the board with the same question.

You don't NEED anything else. What I was saying is that with the 8.8 you can easily upgrade your axles and everything when it comes time to step up the power.

Yeah, as long as you stay in the same generation, you're gonna be good.

You think the haynes repair manuel with have good enough info on whats needed to do this job? I have done shocks and stuff before but never rear end replacement.

Also while I got it off is there any upgrade while I am at I should do? Like change out certain rubber grouments to poly ones or something?

If you've replaced shocks, then that's pretty much the hardest part, you only remove the lower shock bolt, unbolt the driveshaft, then remove the springs, unbolt the control arms, and brakes, and it's done. It takes me 45 minutes to swap out rear ends using a floor jack and jack stands. It's easy. Just remember to loc-tite your driveshaft and brake caliper mounting bolts when you put them back in.
