Question Neutral???

Hey. Im curious about something. I own a 5 speed 02 V6. When I stop at red lights I put the stick in neutral and let my foot off the brake. On slight uphills (i guess about 10 degree inclines) the car does not roll. All other 5 speeds I drove would take off backward on uphills. There isnt some special thing FORD put in the MUSTANG to assist drivers on start-up on a hill is there?

I thought either 1)They're made that way, 2)My brakes are sticking, 3)I have low tire pressure.

I checked the tire pressure and they are 38 (max 40 cold tire pressure). So its not the tire pressure. I also thought it might be the brakes. If it were the brakes though, I thought I would have smelled that while driving. But thats the only thing it could be. Maybe the E-Brake is sticking a little.

If it is the brakes, wouldn't that hurt my gas mileage and wear out my brakes faster?

I would appreciate anything y'all could tell me. Its not that I want the car to roll backwards, its just I don't want this to require me to spend more money than I have to with a problem down the road. Thanks.

That is odd. It should roll back.

Could be a number of things. Dragging brakes, worn out bearings, improper (too low) pressure in the tires. My 00 V6 would always roll back (or forward) if there was any type of incline of course my max tire pressure was 44psi so I always had teh tires at 37.

^^Thats what I was thinking. Maybe the ebrake is alittle to tight. Or it could just be the car...sometimes mine rolls, sometimes its doesnt.

That's for sure. I've had to replace the passenger front caliper twice in the last 4 months. might wana lift the car and spin the wheels see if any of them are locked. Make sure it's out of gear when u do the rears.
