does the 97 plain mustang have the PATS key i was told no and i was told yes im trying to get the pyle pwd501 car alarm/remote starter installed one place i called to do it said i needed to buy a bypass another one said i didnt does anyone on here know? thanks

 

i believe it does. my 98 v6 does. sucks, a spare key costs 90.00 or so.

 

well one person i talked to said it started in 98 so not sure on the 97 thanks tho appreciate it

 

I would almost bet on NO. I know my 95 doesn't but that's 2 years apart

 

98 was the first year, it was standard on GT's and an option on the V6.

Take a picture of your key and post it and I can tell you absolutely for sure

 

My 97 has the chip in it. I was going to get remote starter and they told me it would cost quite abit cause it had the chip in the key. this girl at work has a 96 and she dosnt have one but my 97 does. Its a bigger key than the girls 96 at work. they showed me where the chip was its on the top of the key and looks like a rectancul.

but i did check the key and there is no spot at the top of the key however on the one side of the key there is two engraved lines then another engraved line going across both of them does that mean anything


another thing the guy told me who im gonna have install it said look for a red light on the dash or cluster and there is no red light not sure if thats something

 

yeah there will be a light on the dash that says "theft"
