thanks for the heads up on the LT's....any other ideas let me know
GTs use the same brakes, if you're going to upgrade, then go Cobra setup with drilled rotors (slotted if you want the extra stopping power). I did it, and the difference is night and day compared to stock.

I agree with the above, get a supercoupe engine with the M-90, don't get just the S/C and try to do an engine build, going to be too pricey, and requires a lot of modification to make it fit.

contact matt neuharth at www.delkperformance.com and he can spec a custom ground comp cam for that setup for about the same as an off the shelf cam. you will need pushrods also and the comp 1.7 roller rockers are really a smart idea

I thought GT's had bigger brakes up front, my bad...something else I picked up, thanks guys.

and i thought the M90 was a (seemingly) direct fit for the 3.8s without a ton of modification...i realize its not a perfect fit but I thought it was do-able, or at least a lot easier than an engine swap?

also thanks for the delk link...$400 bucks for a cam sounds awesome (mine are well over $1000...DOHC sucks sometimes).

I appreciate the help guys, I never really looked into modding these engines before and I clearly have no clue where to start with these pushrod 6's....actually makes me miss the mod motors.

and if the m90 doesnt end up working for us....what about ported upper and lower intake with some head work (to open up the single port...delk has some good prices it looks like) some forged internals and a S****load of spray. he doesnt have the coin for the head work right now, but for the smaller stuff he has plenty saved up.How do the stock single ports stand up to spray? Ive seen a stock split port hit 12's on spray (punypony) and some suspension mods...are single ports capable of anything like that?

he really only wants to hang with (preferably beat) the 1 or 2 new edge GT's that poke fun at his 6er at school. i know its harder than it sounds.

I told him he could drive the Cobra to school for a couple of days when Im home for winter break while we are tearing his car apart

I gave him my 6er because it was in awesome shape. Why waste money on high mileage GT for his insurance to go up and gas mileage to go down?

but thanks for the advice...?

To make that car beat edges, you need more than an M-90 on an Sn-95, really not the best building block to work with when making a fast sixer, heads nad intake flow like poo poo.

If you're looking to do intake work, then just get a split port intake setup from a 99-04 sixer and port and polish that. It may be a little more/less than the M-90, but if you can P/P and do some cam work, that will make more power than the M-90. The swap along gains approx 40 rwhp, perform a modest port job, and get a mild level cam in there and you can easily add another 20-30 to that number.

its not that the M90 swap is hard, its just easier to find a supercoupe engine- the little parts that the six has to have swapped over makes it easier, plus you get the slightly better internals.

actually gas milage is the same and my last GT insurance quote was $10 a month cheaper then my v6

an m90 swapped v6 with a GT take off exhaust and stock GT mufflers with stock 2.73s and open diff with 205s run a 14 flat, so 13s are very easy

oh, I was just saying for him specifically, the car insurance was almost double a month, which would put him at nearly $400 to insure a GT...IDK, we have Allstate and he is 17, but the GT was ridiculously expensive (even my insurance was expensive when I was originally shopping around). I even tried getting him a Fox body....but it was just easier to give him my old mustang, and way less expensive.

I am hoping to get the GT takeoff installed this weekend (actually Wednesday) while I'm home for Thanksgiving...so I have some time to figure out what route we will be taking. After all it is his car now, I'm just trying to help him out....and you guys are here to help me so i dont screw up.
