just a question.....if you downshift alot on the highway to pass cars. or to race some piece of #$%^ rice burner, is it hard on your engine and gears?.....

No, downshifting is part of driving a manual transmission. If you were in an auto it would downshift for you when you give it enough gas. Its probobly not the BEST thing for your engine if your doing 50 and you down shift to 2nd putting you right next to redline VERY OFTEN but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

are we talking 5th to 4th gear?? Your fine just keep an eye on your tach. Its good to run your engine hard sometimes, because it burns up all the junk in your engine and cleans stuff out a little bit.
