Default difference in intake filters?

i know ppl say KN has a reputation but how significant are the gains compared to a spectre filter, considering its half the price.

never heard of em, but a KN has only a marginal gain over a paper filter anyways

K&N would be worth while after a point because you can use it over and over and over and it will pay for itself...

I would go with the K&N. Its not a big gain but better than a paper filter. From what I'm told its about 3hp.

I haven't heard of spectre, but I am getting a K&N filter. I got my mustang with 70,000 miles on it. Decided to change filters and fluids, opened up the air filter....fairly certain it came with the car. This thing was all bent to hell because it was so dirty, it had to contort itself to suck air in. I have a picture of it on my computer...here we go

I know, I know....I will never use a Fram filter again.

I saw a spectre too, I was wondering how they compare against K&N. I thought about buying it, since it's $20 at Autozone.

Looks pretty good, really. I don't see too much difference between K&N or Spectre, just a new name on the scene. At $20 who knows.

Spectre filters are like the APC filters to be honest. They aren't well made and typically used for engine dress. Personally i would go with a K&N or an AEM filter.
