Default Replace Camshaft Synchronizer?

Hey Does anyone know how to replace the Camshaft Synchronizer? i got a
3.8L. My service engine soon light came on(Brought it to autozone and codes read that there was a problem with the synchronizer), not long after i started hearing a sharp noise coming from my car. Happens just as hit around 4k rpm. Almost all the time when the car is cold, but when it's atleast warmed up, it seems to make the loud nosie if i gun it to 4k.

IIs this the problem? Can anyone tell me how to replace this thing? If its a little too complicated fer a "newbie" then lemme know i dont mind the constructive criticism Thanks.

I hear they are fairly easy to change, but a bitch to get to. You have to use an alignment tool and set your engine to TDC. I have to pull mine out to change the washer on it. It is letting oil seep out on the top of my engine. I have been hesitating to buy a whole new unit just to get the washer. So, do me a favor if yours ends up being bad, save the old one or have the shop hold it if they do the job and pm me, I will give you a few bucks for just the washer. thanks.
