Default help no heat and overheating

hey I have a 96 mustang, it has no heat, the car won't read anything on the temp, and then it shoots up fast to overheating.I changed the thermostat, but it didn't help. any ideas

Did you check the oil to see if it was milky looking? Do you have a lot of water vapor coming from your exhaust?

If you do then you have a blown head gasket.

If thats not it then you could have a bad temp sending unit and the fan isnt coming on.
Also like rfcsoulja said, burp for an air bubble.

A temp sending unit is cheap, replace it and see if that works.
