help with next mod
ok so spring is here and the cobra is going to come out for the summer and the sixxer will be in the garage. while its in there i wanted to do some engine work since i wont have to worry about getting it done quickly. i want to spend under 1k and was looking to do the split port swap, is this the best way to go or does anyone have any other ideas for more hp
In all honesty I'd leave the sixer alone and dump the money into the Cobra. 1k on the Cobra would be more worthwhile, but if it has to be used on the sixer, split port swap is the best way to go for the money you're spending.
i know and i'll hear that from most people but the cobra is only out for a few months and i want my d/d to be more fun to drive than it is. after the split port swap i would probably cut off her funds and focus on the cobra
If it's at all possible, you could MAYBE do a 4.2 swap for around 1k.
*edit... do the split port at the same time if possible.
This might help.. http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/t9601/

Not a bad mod to do if you can do all the work yourself. I'm not sure if SSM still sells the full conversion kit, but if you, look on ebay and hit up some junk yards for the following:
99-04 Upper/Lower Intake w/TB
99-04 Heads
99-04 Coil Pack & Harness
Then you'll also need:
99-04 Spark Plugs
99-04 Spark Plug Wires
99-04 Head Bolts (do not reuse stock)
99-04 Lower Intake Bolts (try not to reuse stock)
99-04 Head Gaskets
99-04 Lower Intake to Head Gaskets
99-04 Upper to Lower Intake Gasket
99-04 TB Gasket
That's all I can think of, but while you have the heads and intake out, might as well port them for maximum power. Also, if you have to pull heads out of a junk yard, or buy used online, make sure you have a machine shop refinish them, if they're not 100% flat along the bottom/refinished they will not seal properly and could/will cause a head gasket failure.
