Default Gears

I have found someone selling 373s for the 7.5 but they are from a ranger. They claim they will fit the Mustang. Is this true, is there other details I would need in order to know if they will fit my 2002 v6?

Im a gear and rear end noob for sure

Buy a posi if your going to get gears. If the gears are from a Ford then Im sure it would fit but just wait till someone more experienced comes in before you make your purchase.

I intend to get a posi or Tlock as well if I go this route. The other route Im looking at is an 8.8 swap. It just comes down to price really.

Thanks for your reply

Yeah there is a rebuilt Auburn posi on ebay for the 7.5 and a rebuilt T Lok as well. I think I saw a T Lok with 3.73 gears as well. I would go for the 8.8 swap if you are planning on doing some serious power mods down the road.

I think my final goal for this car will be a 4.2 with gears tune, exhaust etc. I dont think id even go up to a power adder. Just clean, reliable etc. so power wont be huge. It just seems at times it could be cheaper to buy a rear end then getting gears and a lock done to mine

I do have the 28 spline axles right, I was pretty sure thats what I have stock, but now that Im looking at stuff, Im second guessing

Yeah it is a big cheaper. If you can do it yourself then you wont have to pay for labor to swap the differential.
