Default Need some advice...

My best guess is that everyone has a CAI on their car. So I've been searching around to see what kind I should get for my 04 V6 40th Ann. Everything on it right now is stock, just got it, but I need to know what some of your opinions are on CAI's. I don't mind what brand, as long as it's a "big name" brand. And price I can worry about when I figure out what I should get. So could any of you tell me what you've got on your cars or what you think would be best for my car? That'd help a lot. Thanks.

Well a lot of members are going to say go ebay CAI, but on a same note, a lot of members have had problems with them, however, odly enough, like myself, they all have GTs or Cobras now and no longer post in the sixer section lol. I had a 98 with an ebay CAI, worst mistake ever. The chrome faded to a dull aluminum surface, the couplings started dry rotting, and the hose clamps started rusting. Before I traded in my 98 for my 95 5.0, I was about to buy a new BBK, that's how bad it got, and it was only on the car a year and a half. Others have had other problems with ebay CAIs, some had have none, so it's your car to take their advice on getting one.

Good CAI brads include:
BBK
MAC
K&N
JLT

No one will really add any more power than the other, so it's your call as to what one you like best.

You can always do the home made CAI thing by removing the air silencer and droping in a K&N filter, pretty much the same thing. Reguardless of what you do, you're still going to get 2-4 rwhp.

I really like K&N brand, I'm lookin' at one that is $240. Is that a good deal or no? But I also would maybe like a chrome finished one because of the look it would give the engine. I do not want to buy one from eBay, I don't trust buying used parts. The site I am using at the moment is Americanmuscle.com. I saw that they were a sponsor of this site so I figured they were good and I like the site setup. I don't know how many people have bought from there, but that's what I'm looking at right now.

American Muscle is a good site. Everyone is really happy with them. I personally just did the removed silencer and K&N drop in filter. If I was ever going to get a CAI I would get a plastic one opposed to a chrome/metal CAI since the plastic stays cooler, which in turn means cooler air and more power.
