Exclamation Lost Electronics...

Alright, a 2 mornings ago I got in my car to go to work, and the little battery light was on. Today, about to come home, the car did not start easy and I lost all power right before I got home. (Radio, gauges, etc. Even Signals would not work) Car ran like pOO for a few seconds then died on me.

Some Diagnostics were ran the day before saying that my battery was good (brand new), Load test was good, Alt. was good. All good. What I was wondering was if there were a connection from the Alternator to the Starter that could be bad?

Any ideas?

This happened in one of my other cars I do not know how relevant it is, but I had left my hazards on, and the security system could be going off too??

I dont think there is a connection between the starter and alternator. Its from the battery to the starter. If your battery was dead on the drive your car wouldnt have lost all power since the alternator wouldve supplied enough juice to keep the radio/guages/lights on. I would say that your alternator is the culprit but thats just a guess.

Same thing I thought, but another guy I work with said SOME cars had a line that connected the Alt. and the Starter. I didn't think mine would though...

As far as the battery, its brand freakin new... tested at 12.67 volts 2 days ago, and was at 11~ today. I've got the alternator off and I'm gonna test it tomorrow.

Ah ha.. I was right. Isnt there a way to test the alternator without taking it off the car?

There are, but a bench test is by far the best because they can tell you exactly what component is damaged.

if the alt isnt bad, it could be the line between alt and battery loose. it really sounds like the battery was dying on you, that would especially be the cause of the car running like crap right before it died. if the alt is good, make sure you get those connections nice and tight when you put it back on and try again. i guess another thing to check could be the belt
