Looking back, I remember you saying you were limited on cash. Your plan (as well as the plans of many other in this thread) will cost lots of money. I'm not talking "wait until my next birthday" money. I'm talking "wait until I'm 35 yrs old and make $250,000+ a year" money. However, you CAN get by cheap. I don't mean to criticize you at all, I'm just wanting to add perspective. For a small price tag, you can get a Cold Air Intake, Underdrive Pulleys, true dual exhaust, and maybe some side window scoops. All of these mods (excluding the scoops) will make a somewhat noticeable difference in the feel AND sound of the car. A loud exhaust system tends to make it feel faster, and trust me, I would know. I'm running straight pipes after all. Now, the window scoops are a cheap way to make your car look fast. The are very classic. You can find those over at American Muscle (which has tons of other Stang stuff too). Another thing to look at is a short throw shifter. There are many brands out there, and many people have a good reason for liking one over the others. Just ask around about all of that.
One last note I have to add here. I am only 17 (18 in less than 5 days). I got my first car at 16 and wrecked it in 4 months. I was hit by a semi who ran a red. Then came trouble. My replacement car was a 99 V6. It was bone stock, but still had more than enough power for a 16 year old. Now, I have been racing Carts and riding 4-wheelers since I was about 4. I knew how to drive pretty well, but a car is just a different story. I ended up rolling it because, like every kid with a fast car, I thought I could handle it. Now I'm on Mustang number 2. I've driven this thing like it has a 5 HP Briggs & Stratton on it. The point is, don't underestimate how badly this sixxer can turn around and kick your a**. I was lucky and only ended up with 7 staples. You might not get lucky.

hey does any body know what happened to the american muscle web site? just last week people could post comments on every item and now you cant, i really liked that about the web site because it gave feed back about products instantly. also would you reccomend getting the larger throttle body for a 2002 V6? i wanna buy the BBK CAI and BBk throttle body
Hey V6newb, I know everybody here is slamming you. But in their defence, they all like mustangs are don't want to see another one in the bone yard (or you for that matter). I think that Azreal gave a good example of the unforseen possibilities. At the same point, it is your car and do what you want. The best way to go about modding your car is...
1. figure out all the things you wish you could do
2. from your list decide what is practical for you driving style (track or street)
3. put your list in order (so you don't have to take it apart to do other stuff)
4. put a price next to each thing
5. look at the numbers and decide again 'what is practiacl'
6. save up some money and start you car
You don't have to do it all at once, but also keep a little extra stashed away incase some idiot hits your car and you have to get it fixed. I know I personally wouldn't drive my stang if it was smashed up.
Another idea is to figure out all the things that you want to do. And don't do them. Wait a couple years and yet a GT then do the mods. You seem like you are really into the car and modding, use this one as a practice car. Then go out and buy yourself a gt and really mod it in a few years. A gt will give you a larger base to start performance mods. Meanwhile you will learn the v6 and the rear wheel drive. Also a car that YOU buy will mean more to you and you will be MORE proud of your car and its mods.
I am 26 years old and bought my first mustang last spring, this spring I started modding it. I have always had rear wheel drive vehicles and this is my toy more than my daily driver. I bought a V6 because I liked the idea of taking a V6 and building it up. I am doing it slowly so I can appritiate the mods I do.
Take that for what its worth to you.
And enjoy your car!!

i know exactly where youre coming from. i wasnt as lucky to get a 2008, but i got a 2000 v6 and right away i wanted to make it faster and better. just be smart about where you go. i thought i could handle a little v6 and wanted to be the guy with the v8 rocket. bad idea. ended up draining all my cash into a speeding ticket and even more cash into gas. the only thing i can really say is, dont get too cocky with your skills and plan everything. dont mean to knock you, just want to save you some trouble i had to go thru
take some time with your cat, enjoy it do some research before you even think about doing anything to the motor, ive seen too many kids tear up good cars in more ways than one, and if somone gives you advice, cross referance it first, jsut work on the looks of your car for now, if you want to add a little power just add some bolt ons, exhaust, cai,...ext.
you should be happy that your dad bought that for you, i never had anhything handed to me and ive had to work for what i have now since i was 16, and im 24, so
have fun with it and try not to tear it up

im 19... almost 20....oh god.... and ive had my mustang since i was 17. saved up my money from my crap job so i could pay half lol. didnt add anything to it for a year, drove it in the snow and everything one year(never again!! made it through the winter but isnt a fun experience, didnt wreck at all tho) got to know the car a little first. cash also limits ya bad, hope you have a job and no girlfriend lol. other than that just enjoy it but be safe, and if you are going to mess around, do it where it is at least safe from hitting anyone, like an empty parking lot or something.
