Default V6 to V8 Engine Swap

I have a 2000 V6 3.8L Mustang and I have put several thousand dollars into modding its appearence (so selling it is not an option), but I want a more powerful engine. How much would it approximately cost to swap the V6 engine with a GT V8 engine? Thanks!

Im in the same boat as you. I put alot of money in my stang and Im either gonna trade mine in and take all the stuff i put into it and put it on the new one or just drop a V8 in it. If you think about it buying a v6 and motorswapping a v8 is cheaper than buying a v8 new. You can buy a used v6 for 10,000 and another 10 grand to drop in a new motor with tranny wiring etc. (mach 1 or cobra motor) and thats $20,000. instead of throwing 35-45 grand on a new cobra or mach 1... so im not sure what im gonna do yet..... but a friend of mine did a v6-cobra motorswap with auto-5 speed cost him $8,000 with install

lots of work...i think take what mods you can off your sixer and get a new car. im sure you could get a pretty good amount of change for a nice looking v6 and then just need a few extra thousand to upgrade

mmmm.. dropping in a v8 would be nice. the VIN says it's a 6, so you get the power of an 8, with the insurance of a 6.

and insurance fraud if you wreck. go to www.tmaturbo.com and buy one of those for $3300 and stomp the GTs.

exactly.

you must report it otherwise if you do wreck and they find a V8 under the hood they will not pay damages and most likely sue for fraud for at least the amount difference between v6 and v8 rates.

plus insurance fraud is a felony so if convicted there goes your right to voting, gun ownership and kiss alot of carrer paths goodby

all in all either build the V6 like matthockey32 says of sell it and get a slow *** GT

don't have a heartattack that i agree with you matt

yeah swaps are a pretty bad idea on cars that actually have value cause then they have to assess damages. on say an old fox body, i still dont think they would give a **** because it would be totaled so easily.

it's not your car they are worried about it's somebody elses car or property or life. that's why V8's have a higher insurance. not necessarly because they are worth more but becauce people will use the power in an irresponsible manner and destroy sombody elses property and cause bodily injury
