okay so recently my check engine light came on and stayed on..i got it read and the code p1443 came up. iv dun sum research and have figured out it has to do with the evap system but i wuz wondering if you guys got sum input on it..like what to check and where and what i wud need to fix the problem.

Check your gas cap

 

I doubt it's the gas cap. A gas cap will usually throw a p0440, p0442, or p0445, which are EVAP leak codes.

P1443 is a code Ford uses for the EVAP system. With a quick google search, I found that the most common problem when this code is set is a bad purge valve.

 

i went to napa and got a new purge flow sensor and put it in. erased the code and its goin fine now

 

I am having the same problem now. Do you just purchase a purge valve or is it called something else?

 

And is this something I can do myself or have my dad do, or does a mechanic have to do it?

 

From what I just read it is a DIY job to change the sensor. I believe it is just a sensor on a vaccum line so it should be easy to change yourself.
