Default help! fuel level sensor?

So my CEL came on (yes i searched already) after driving about 250 miles. Turns out its a fuel level sensor circuit malfunction. Have no idea what this could be, could someone enlighten my uneducated self?

It's either the wiring going to the fuel level sensor, or the sensor itself. Pretty self explanitory.

in the gas tank, as part of the fuel pump assembly. You have to replace the whole thing

Yeah it sucks. I have to change the assembly one of these days but my fuel level sensor stops working when the tank has less than a 1/4 tank so I just keep lotsa gas in it.
