Help Please...
I've decided to go with the custom exhaust on my V6 mustang. But I was wondering, could I have a muffler shop fit my mufflers and tips as true duals with pipe size of 2.5"? A stock V6 exhaust is 2.25", so I was wondering if it would be possible to make it bigger?
when you say true duals, I take that to mean no crossover pipe??? you do not want true duals as the v6's need the crossover to run right. I tried that a few years ago on my 95 3.8 mustang & I lost alot of power, it could't get out of its own way & sounded like a vintage prop plane,
ugghhhh. I welded a crossover into it & bingo better than stock. someone else might be able to verify this but I think that if you go too big on the pipes you will lose some torque. & also, make sure to keep the cats, so your computer won't screw you. Good luck
Okay. Well then I'll probably just stick with the 2.25" pipe and use a "H" pipe crossover for more low end tourqe and a deeper sound for a V6. I'm debating between Flowmaster 40's or Flowmaster Super 40's. I don't want it to sound ricey at all even though it is a V6.
I can't give you much insight on the flow's as I never tried them on the v6. I used glasspacks on my initial setup but I didn't want to pay for tailpipes & hangers so I just put turndowns after the glasspacks & that is a perfect recipe for very bad drone/interior resonance ,hence I ended up with no mufflers, sounds weird but I had no drone without mufflers.
I do have Flowmaster 40's 2 chamber on my current mustang (see sig) & they sound great. if I were you, I would go for the Flow's 2 chamber w/tailpipes & I think that will be the best sound you will find on the v6.. Good luck
