Default Got the engine.. Oh so sweet

Well the engine got here.. Everything looks great and we have it out of the crate and hanging.. now my question is this.. i was talking with a guy at work and he is telling me that since i have it out and all that I can start putting mods on it before it even goes into the car.. like the headers and whatnot.. Is this true? What, if anything, can be put on before it even gets into the car? Also I will try and get pics up asap.

Did you order a k-member? If so go ahead and put the engine in it, and then start slapping on your headers and everything.

K-member? where would i find this and how much are we talking.. trying to build the bank back up... also I am going to assume that since you mentioned a k-member that it is something I should be installing correct? I mean is this something that needs to be done? I was just looking and found a couple for like 250 which isnt bad but also mentions having to upgrade the control arms and then if i upgrade the control arms i have to get c/c plates and coilovers.. i already purchased the Eibach lowering springs.. is there any k-members where you dont have to do all these upgrades or what?

Yea, go ahead and bolt up the long tubes with the engine out. Then just guide it all in place. It will be a pain in the ***, but less of a pain in the *** of installing them with the engine in.

This would be the best time to install a aftermarket K-member because your engine will already be out of the car. V6 K-member = GT K-member, they are both the same. Some K members are a direct bolt on and can work with the stock a-arms, not sure which those are though.
Dude get some pics of the engine before you drop it in, because it will never look this clean again.

long tubes take all of 15min to put in when the motor is in the car, takes longer than that to guide it into the trans WITH them on, unless your going to do motor+trans.

For all this money you're putting into this car, you really don't sound like you know a lot of what you're buying/talking about.

What is your whole setup? I remember seeing you post a bunch of threads about buying a whole bunch of stuff, but I forgot what exactly it all was.

I recommend a QA1 K-member in mild steel with QA1 control arms and Maximum Motosports Coil-overs for the front.

The k-member is the the big metal thing that supports the engine, front suspension, and ties the front of the car in together, but it weighs a TON!

I thought by now I made that perfectly clear lol.. I was never much into performance and all that.. I knew the basics bolt ons and all of that but now I am "trying" to get into everything and learn a little here and there. The mods that I purchased that will be going in include:

4.3L Forged SSM Block
Stage 2+ SSM Power Pak
BBK Cold Air Intake
VAP Intake Spacer
BBK 65mm Throttle Body which was matched to the intake
Mac LongTube Headers
Mac H-Pipe
ASP Underdrive Pulley
Ford Racing Aluminum Drivershaft
SVT Feul Pump
3.73 Gears
T-Lok
Roush Side Exhaust
SCT Programmer
Eibach springs, sway bars, shocks, struts
Nitrous Kit

Is it necessary to upgrade the K-member or just another mod to do??
