Small engine issue?
Lately, when its really hot outside and I run my 96, after about 40 min it will start to slow down, when I hit the gas pedal, I get nothing, like its getting no gas. Then after I pull over, it will 'catch' back up and run just fine for awhile. Had this problem last year, the fuel pump was replaced, the filter, but it was a diff problem, it wouldnt run at all, just sputter everywhere. This time it runs fine when its cool out, and only stutters and attempts to shut down when its really hot. Could it be a sensor issue? Ive already replaced the fuel filter. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
sounds like vapor lock. Really common in carbed engines when the temps outside get up there. Vapor lock is where the fuel in the fuel line near the fuel rail in this case gets vaporized or close to vaporized. That creates a really low pressure and poor dispersion as it gets put to the injectors.
Think of a water hose with a head on it. When you first turn it on, you get the sputting and speweing until all the air/vapor is gone in the hose. Same type of concept. I live in AZ and haven't had any issues with it, check your fuel lines and your fuel pressure regulator.
