Question Misfire

Hello,

got a small problem here.. hopefully small, I own a 2000 Ford Mustang, 3.8L v6, recently it started to misfire in the 3rd cylinder, any possible ideas on what could be causing it to do that?

Thanks in advance.

Check your plug wires first. If no wires off, replace plugs and wires. If that dont fix it, then replace coil pack.

Alright, I also want to mention that the problem is intermittent, it will happen sometimes, but then it would go away. Would that mean that maybe its an electrical problem?

I had a problem with a steady miss. It ended up being one of the rear injectors was plugged. Cleaned it and it ran great......other than the problem I have now which I just posted in this forum.

Sounds like its either a loose plug wire or the coil pack going bad.

x2 to checking your plugs, wires, and coil packs.

i had a problem when under high load it would miss on many/random cylinders.. turns out my spark plugs had way overheated to the point of slight melting and the miss was from the spark jumping the plug wire to the block. so check and see if there are black marks on the porcelain of the plugs

First spark plugs,wires, coil pack..

if still misses do a compression check. If compression is good

then replace spark plug for cylinder that's missing

just had to do all this about a month ago so have first hand experince... pm if you need any help.
