intake gaskets
ok ibought this mustang about 2 months ago. first thing i noticed after i've had it , it has a shudder a low rpms. i've changed pvc and plugs and wires. but it still there. now ive noticed when it turn the key to acc position that i see no service or check engine light on the dash. there is one right?. i think they may have taken out the light. not sure. yesterday i drove it about 4 miles to the store and got out and noticed that i had what looked like oil dripping out of one tail pipe(car was running)could this be an upper intake gasket? car does not run hot or seem to lose water..how do u tell if the upper or lower intake gaskets are bad....thanks
Yes, the light is suppose to flash.
The bulb can be burnt out or it could be removed like you think. If you are thinking about returning the car the best thing to do is start documenting things and know that their fingerprints will be on the housing of the guage cluster. So if you need, have that area dusted.
Now as for me, unless it was a dealership or I got a bad deal then I probably wouldnt do anything about it and just fix it and talk to the previous owner.
Inform them that you know what they did and that you arent going to do anything (yet) and just want to know what was wrong with the car so that you can fix it.
As for the oil coming out the tips, are you sure it wasnt carbon mixed with condensation?
White smoke is water
Blue smoke is oil
Really you ought to invest in taking it to the dealership for a full diagnostics because there is only so much we can help you with.
Good luck

If it really was oil and it was getting that far through the exhaust system without burning then you have some really bad problems. I would figure the cats would nuke it before it could get to the tips.
