VALVE COVER GASKET???
I have a 97 Mustang V6 and I think my drivers side valve cover gasket is leaking. While driving down the road every now and then it smells like oil is burning off. Ive looked under the hood, nothing looks "wet" and it smells like oil is burning on the drivers side of the motor.
If it is bad, do I have to pull the intake off in order to get the valve cover off? My repair book sucks and makes things look so easy but doesnt help me at all.

The best thing to do is after the engine is nice and warm, go ahead and spray it down with some simple green. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes and then hose it off. Don't use any pressure or anything, just let the water run out the end of the hose. Use some degreaser for the tough stuff and jsut try to get the engine bay as clean as possible, also jack the car up and clean the pan and tranny really well. Once it's all clean, spotting any leaks will be super easy. The ONLY seal that i've had to replace was my crank seal on the timing cover, and I did that when I put my UDP on, it takes 2 minutes to do.
If you notice a little mist on your oil pan when you change your oil, that's most likely where it's coming from, and it's pretty normal on every car. I always use some cleaner on my pan when I do an oil change.
