Your 17 and already switched "games" lol. And I don't like your name, just cause single port V6's make like 125 wrhp, your not smoking much on the road. Not trying to be a dick but a 98 V6 is slow as hell stock. I wouldn't waste your time with a cai if your serious about beating your honda friends. I would get a posi unit (lsd) in the rear end and some 3.73 gears, longtube headers and full exhaust with a good tune through Justin at vmptuning, steeda tri-ax short throw shifter, and if your serious about making power look at either the M90 supercharger swap which can be done relitivley cheaply or a splitport swap. 99-04 mustangs had I want to say 40hp more than pre 99's stock so if you go to a junkyard and get the heads intakes and everything needed off a 99-04 V6 you'll be making much more power. Or check out a power pack from supersixmotorsports.com for a 99-04 splitport V6 which is more expensive, like $2,500 but you'll gain, probably like 90hp. Theres my .02. Any specific questions?

actually a power pak will gain almost 90 hp on a split port, get a split port power pak for his and he will gain more like 130hp, also that "im 17 and i can drive good" is NOT going to fly around here some people will jump down your throat before you even know what hit you. also to point out i knew a kid that was in junior dragsters for idk how long and thought he could drive good too. got a fast car, flipped it at over 80mph. I'm sure you can guess the rest.

but yeah shaun about hit the nail on the head. although you can also get a split port power pak and then a m112 kit (roots style superchager off the 03n04 cobras) and at less than 10 psi push 450WTQ and comparable HP, obviously then ud need a clutch n trans upgrade or a stall converter and a really good tranny cooler.

Well 130 would put him around 255 at the wheels and good h/c/i 4.2 setups usually run 235-245 so I wasn't going to put it that high. But yeah stick around and learn before you start with cheap bolt on's.

Simplest thing to do for power without spending all the money on bolt ons and without getting a v8(I figure somebody will eventually say don't waste money on a v6) is to save for some means of forced induction. If you stay with the single port heads and inatkes you could get a Eaton M90 from a early 90s thunderbird supercoupe, vortech or orocharger. If you went with the split port head design go with the m112 from an 03/04 cobra or skip the m112 and go for a kenne bell with the supporting mods. But to give you a good route for your budget we would need to know your budget.

Nice to see nothing has changed. People who only have bolt-ons or aesthetic mods done giving all the advice about serious engine building... Anyone can sit here and throw out 10k in idea's...

What are your real goal OP?

For the person acting like split-ports are super fast compared to single-ports... They aren't. I have minimal hp mods done to my single-port and I can take stock to mild split-ports.

That made me laugh for some reason, I'm not sure why.
