Default longtubes question.

i see that everyone raves about the longtube headers and i seem hear i should drop my BBK shortys for some long tubes.

And i may make myself sound completely stupid, but im still learning about everything...
can you have too much flow? like i believe i was told you do need back pressure. if i put on longtubes to go with my set up would it be alright? I have divorced pipes, hi flow cats, and Flowmaster 40s.

and i was lookign at pacesetters. anyone have issues or concerns about em?

Thanks again

Buy MAC lt's. BBK shorties are nothing more than overpriced stockers.

Well you can take care of the lack of backpressure with gears.

LT's are the only way to go, to save a little on backpressure (and to be legal) be sure to use high flow cats. Stay away from Catco though, they are cheap and die easy. Bassani can help you there.

MAC and pacesetters are both good but I have heard better things about MAC but I have also heard that some have had clearance issues but nothing that cant be overcome with a little thinking and muscle.

Borla mufflers seem to offer a pretty darn good increase in backpressure, I know mine have and they rumble pretty good and arent quite as ricey in the higher RPM's.

Supporting mods will help backpressure problems.

Wow Ryan, why to answer the guys question

As long as you a running cats you should be ok back pressure. Most people get in trouble back pressure wise when they remove the cats, but even if you weren't there are ways to deal with it.

When I installed my long tubes I saw a slight loss down low. But not enough to freak out about. To fix the slight back pressure problem is to get a custom tune or like was said gears.

Ryan answered his first question perfectly; BBK shorties are overpriced stockers.

you dont want back preasure, you the exhaust to flow freely, i was running MAC LTs a catted H and a 2.5" cat back with flow knock offs and knocked over a full second off my time and added IIRC 3-4 mph in my trap speed.

Our engines produce very good torque, so worrying about backpressure with off the shelf parts isn't much of an issue.
