The only thing I can find like you describe that is cylindrical is in the rear fender well behind the tire. It's called the Evaporative Emissions Canister.

just an fyi to everyone:
CHARCOAL CANISTERS ARE NOT NECESSARY!
all it does is take the nasty fumes from your IM and sorts them through charcoal to save the environment.
ive done a handful of honda builds and thrown away every one. the honda ones are a cylinder too, if you really want one check to see if the honda one fits too
heres a picture:

Ah, thank you. That will help out for my search better. Reason why I've been so persistent about it is my check engine light and fuel cap light will not stay off without it, keeps reading I have an exhaust leak even though that was all fixed up two weeks ago. But if I'm right though, I may already have one on my car. Thing is it isn't in the right front fender, it is actually set back towards the passenger seat area in the engine compartment. I'll have to go look at it again after the sun comes up and warms up the air. Right now its 25 degrees here and windy. Anyways, thanks slammedEG for given me the pic.

you are correct sir, it is exactly where you stated. idk why they said its in the fender... (mustangforums.com needs a little education, im kind of sketchy getting advice from people on here)

it really isnt necessary, though.

about the leak, did you check egr? and what code is being thrown?

Wow, someone grab a fire extinguisher... I feel a flame job coming.

And you do need it if you want to keep the car street legal.

You sure you aren't seeing part of the A/C system?
