Default pulled motor, questions

Well with the 3.8 finally out i have a couple questions.

Where is a safe point to attach the crane to pull a motor out? I used the exhaust studs but really did not like the way it looked. is there a safer place?

What all can be put on before the 4.3 goes back in? Pulling the LT's with the engine in the car is a BITCH and i figure putting them on world be just as bad. Can the engine go in with the LT's on?

And I'm parting out the 3.8 if anyone needs parts. PM me what you want.

Everytime I've seen someone pull a motor, like on a show its always by a plate that attaches to the upper intake manifold, but thats usually on carb'd cars where you can put it in place of the carb.

I would assume you would attach the picker to the upper intake, but I've never removed a motor(3.8 anyway) so that is purely hearsay. I would install the headers after the motor is in, but it may work with some maneuvering and patience(tight fit down there).

Chain around the upper intake...just loop it through a few times. Put the LTs on outside of the car, and drop it with them on already. It will save you tons of hassle later on.

How much for the whole 3.8L?

I've never pulled a 3.8 either, so no help there. As far as putting the tubes on with the motor in, if that's giving you fits, support the motor from the bottom with a jack, unbolt the motor mounts, and jack the motor up as far as you safely can, then put the tubes in. That's the way I've had to do it on most 4v motors.

I'm looking to add a second 3.8L to do more bench work with. Got the other extra one stripped down right now to a short block and parts.

You of all people complaining about how EASY long tubes are to put on?? You can also use the accessory bolts in the front and a bolt in the back of a head that will get the job done also. Are you pulling engine & trans?

Well when I pulled mine I had the front brackets off and just put a bolt in the block and a bolt on the back bellhousing and put the eyes on the chain over the bolts and yanked her out.

Really just loop it through the runners? As long as you say it works and the bolts don't snap. but do you have a pic by chance?

The 3.8 has been gutted already tho, the block has already been shipped. I have basically everything else for sale.
