stock v6 clutch???
hey everyone does anyone know how many horses a stock v6 clutch can handle? i need to know if i need a stage 2 or not thanx any questions/suggestions/opinions are greatly appreciated
Thanks for being one of the very few new people to the forum that decided to use the "search" function before posting a new forum! win!!!
anyways your probably good up to 250-300hp, but if your gonna be able to invest the money to actually get that kind of jump in your sixxer you will probably want to invest into a higher grade clutch as well like you said a stage 2

Welp when I did my 00' swap I kept the 96' clutch because it was still in good condition. It was in the car when we bought it and I have put about 41k on it since.
With the new engine I am pushing about 220-230bhp and about 280tq. The clutch has always slipped with the new engine and has started to get worse but it still holds most of the power.
So even though you will start to slip at my power levels it still holds it well enough. It is also a great way to cushion an old or weak transmission. Going to a stronger aftermarket clutch will put more force on the transmission and differential.
Granted, you will be faster as your transfer more power to the ground but you should make sure your trans and diff can handle it first.
Ram clutches has a King Cobra clutch that works quite well and still offers some cushioning to the drivetrain.
I would think that at around 275hp that the stock clutch just wouldnt hold up and slip way too much for any kind of spirited driving.

Wow, somebody used the search button......there is a god lmao.
In short, I agree, about 250-275 hp is about all it could probably handle before excessive slipping starts kicking in, I like Spec and Centriforce myself.
