Default Exhaust System Differences

I have a 2000 V6 Mustang and would like to change the Y pipe to a dual exhaust. I would like to go the cheapest route. Also, I do not want anything too loud. So I was thinking of either:

A) Buying the H pipe adapter for the V6 and used GT cat back pipes with the stock GT mufflers and having a shop cut out the Y and connect these parts.

B) Buy a used GT catback and let the shop fabricate two pipes to connect the catback to my original pipes without the H pipe adapter.

My questions are:

1) What would the sound and performance diffrerence be between the two? If anyone knows of two similar setups with audio clips I would like to hear them.

2) What kind of performance / sound difference would there be if I used aftermarket mufflers (with either of the previous 2 setups) such as thrush welded or Magnaflow instead of the stock GT mufflers?

So, In either case, I would have the Y cut out.

Search man. I've personally answered this at least 25 times and it is covered almost weekly.

the cheapest would be get some gt mufflers(used)...or if you can find a pair of any mufflers for cheap use that.
have a shop cut the y pipe make two pipes going straight out to the mufflers and then have turndowns after the mufflers.

so dumped divorced duals using used mufflers.

if you want tailpipes out to the back that will cost more, if you want new mufflers that will cost more, if you want a midpipe that will cost more

cheapest/best sounding is to buy to Thrush weld series mufflers (2.5" offset/offset), take them to a muffler shop and have them finish running straight pipes aka divorced true duals.

x29834673874829 to searching...this and swaping the v6 to v8 are asked abd answered almost daily.

I have searched but I should probably be more specific. I'm trying to find out how much difference there is in sound between divorced duals and with a crossover H pipe. Sound quality is so different between different recordings with different cameras. If anyone has gone from one system to another, I would be interested in what they say about sound differences or audio clips of before and after if available.

By the way, I think you helped me narrow down my plan for some of these cheap options a previous post - thanks!!

Not much of a difference. H will remove some of the pitting and popping sounds from true duals so an H is a little smoother and sometimes deeper, thats about it. Thrush mufflers sound great for the price.

No difference with the pushrod V6. It has to do with the firing order. You don't need the cross over if you don't want.
