Thumbs down Bad coil pack?

So, the weather has been terrible here in mass, street flooding everywhere. I had been driving the car in the pouring rain all day, wading through 6" puddles and whatnot (I had no choice, they were everywhere). I was on the highway cruising in 5th gear and it started to feel like someone was tapping on my brake pedal but more like a vibration, if you will. The shifter was pretty much smacking back and forth off the damn seats, it smelled like hell, and the service engine light was flashing. The shifter thing freaked me out so I pulled over and got a tow. My buddy said coil pack. Opinions?

It flashed on and off at cruising speed and shut off as I slowed down. I don't have equipment to check.
