Default Audio idea.

So i've had this idea for awhile. I don't know if it would work however. I've seen some cars, two seaters, that have speakers or a sub sticking out through the back seat. I was wondering if I could cut a hole in my back seat, and stick the face of a 10inch sub through the seat with the leather tucked in around it and a box holding it up behind the seat. Problem being, with my vert thats where the top folds down. I'm thinking maybe a custom fabbed box that slopes down might work, then I can run wires from the amp mounted in the trunk on the other side of the back. I think it would look cool flush in the middle but from where the convertible top folds down I feel like it would have to be closer to the bottom of the seat and seatbelt buckles and I don't know how I think that would look. Anyone have an idea/comments/suggestions/knowledge of said idea haha. I could go smaller with a custom 8 inch sub I guess maybe that would give me enough space.

My other idea would be two 6x9 speakers below the rear passenger seats. There's already kindof a box shape there. One right below each seat with the face flush maybe a screen over it to protect from peoples feet, less noticeable but still I think it would be cool. I'd run those to the amp then. Wheres neo, isn't he an audio guy?

well once the top is folded down there really isn't any room behind the seat for a box even a small one. enough airspace for a 4" sub maybe lol

you could however remove the backs seat, have a custom made box the same size as the back seat with some kickouts into the area behind the seat. Next take the foam and leather from the rear seat and then upholster the box with it. you will need to also make brackets that can hold it into the factory bolt holes for the rear seat

first thing is you need to pick a speaker or speakers to determine the required air space though without that you'll just be stabbing things in the dark

I'm not deleting the back seat. I might see about running the two 6x9's under the rear seat. Any idea what is under there? Those who have taken out their rear seat? Can I mount two, one on each side, with enough space behind them for air and what not?

2 of my buddies are audio FREAKS, and we've actually talked about doing a custom rear seat delete for my car and turning it into a box big enough for either 2 10's or 2 12's. They're all about excessive boom, and I've told them I only want enough to sound good, not enough to shake the neighborhood. It's still an idea on the drawing boards, but it's one of their ideas I actually like for once.

Any idea about two 6x9s under the rear seats? Thats all I need to know now, I have the amp, talked to someone at crutchfield who recommended me some speakers to work with my amp. Just have to make sure they will fit.

When you pull the lower cushion there is nothing in that hole. Its just that there is a **** ton of foam attached the the lower cushion.

And it is actually quite a big space. If I get motivated here Ill go and take a pic of how big it is.

Get motivated lol but thanks Fink. I'm going to order those speakers, I think that'll be a pretty cool setup. I could use some more sound from my stereo.

Do you still have stock speakers or are yours aftermarket?

Alpine head unit, alpine speakers. Looking for some more bass and sound without having to add a big sub/box to take up my trunk space and weigh me down. The foam below the seat can simple be removed right? Then I can have the speakers installed and put the seat back and it will be fine support wise?

I have no clue about support issues.

Are the speakers powered by a seperate amp or by the HU?
