Default Air Conditioning Problems

I have a 2002 Ford Mustang V.6. My problem is that when i turn on the A/C, the cold air comes out of the vents as it is supposed to but when i accelerate or go up any incline or hill, it stops coming out of the the vents that blow on you and transfers to the vent that hits the windshield. I usually have to turn it off and start again. Anyone with this problem and what is the solution and probable cost to fix. Thanks in advance.

You probably have a vacuum leak along the firewall, or at the canister or somewhere in between. I would check the firewall first.

I have used carb or brake cleaner in the past if I suspect a leak. The idle will change if you spray a leak because it's sucking air and brake cleaner.

sounds like your blend door actuator may be going out. It's the vacuum solenoid that controls where the air goes and it's on your a/c plenum.

Had a Ford Contour with a vac / vent problem. Had it fixed TWICE and it did it again. I just left it since it was defaulted to defrost lol. POS system. Miss the car not the vent

Can you be more specific about where this is located? My daughters car has the same symptom.

Thanks in advance.
