Default How to re-install e-brake spring?

While rebuilding the left rear caliper on my girlies mustang, I removed the e-brake spring (not sure if I needed to, but thats what I did). Now I can't get the stupid spring back on no matter what I try (e.g. brute force, pliers, c-clamp and multiple 4 letter words etc). How do I get it re-installed? Is there some special technique or tool thats needed for this? I'd hate to have to bring it into a shop/dealer for something like this.

My girlie works in an area where she has to park on a fairly steep hill, so the e-brake needs to work.

Thanks in advance...

I have one that hasn't been able to be reinstalled in 3 years. Start pricing a replacement caliper, it will have the spring already on it, or take it to the dealer and pray someone has the tool to put it back in.

Was hoping to not have to take it in. Extra $$$ for a new caliper or dealers hourly service rate is a luxury I don't have at the moment.

I think I only paid $15 for a new caliper at Pepboys.

Pepboys only has Mustang Cobra rear calipers (according to their web site). Girly's mustang is a standard/base model. :-( Kragen/O'Reilly's has a couple different manufacturers for her car ranging from $55 to $110. Hmmm... Gonna shop around and see what a local indie shop would charge to re-install the spring on the stock caliper. I'll go with whatever is cheaper. Thanks...

There's no difference between a Cobra or v6 rear caliper, just the pads.

Default Hey

I know it’s years later but compress it with a ç clamp or vice grips and use zip ties
