Default Air conditioning clutch Question

My Air conditioning made a big puff of smoke and a grinding noise. I had it looked at and was told the clutch went out, so I had that replaced.

Now only a week later it has done it again a big puff of smoke and a grinding noise. But that mechanic hasn't returned my calls.

Can I continue to drive it with no air conditioning and not hurt anything else?

When I run the air conditioning it doesn't get cool and after a short time it does the smoke and the grinding noise and the smoke is a sick sweet smell. But without the air conditioning so far no smoke or noise. I'm worried that I may damage something else if I continue to drive it until I can have it looked at somewhere else.......

Help in Arizona
No fun without air conditioning

I think you're fine, when you have the AC turned off, as far as I know it's essentially just a free spinning pulley.

Thanks Texas, That does help me feel better I don't want to hurt any other part of the system.
I'll get it checked out ASAP but until then I still have to get around.

Thanks from Arizona

You will be fine because 06Gates said its just a free pulley.

AS long as the clutch doesn't lock engaged, then it's basically an idler, so you should be fine, good luck sweating it out!
