Default rear brakes? i cant compress the caliper???

I just did a rear axle seal on my 2001 mustang v6 car. I am putting everything back together and for some reason i cant get the pass side caliper to compress. Is there any secret to this? I have done at least 50 brake jobs and never had a problem before. I actually left my clamp loose and compressed the pedal. The piston came out further but still wont go back in at all. Could the caliper be junk? Any help would be appreciated i want to get this thing back on the road. thanks

The rear calipers don't compress like the fronts do. You need to get the tool to turn the piston to compress it. I will let you know ahead of time that the cube tool is junk IMO. I just used some vise grips and turned it clockwise(had a friend hold the caliper while I turned the piston, kind of a PITA). Watch out for the rubber boot. I hope this helps. GL

I will check if my buddy at work has a tool he seems to have everything for stangs. If not maybe i will get a pair of vise grips out tomorrow. glad for the info before i broke something thanks alot

Needle nose pliars work as well. I use them doing the rear brakes.

The cube is useless unless you take an angle grinder or dremel or whatever and grind two of the nubs off, then it works great... at least it was for me anyways. +1 with Matt. Try the needle nose pliers before anything.

the cube works for me, it can be a pita but as long as you dont try turning the rachet on an angle it works fine

A good size needle nose pliers would probably be the best.

ok thanks guys my buddy at work has the tool but said the same thing to try the needle nose pliers. I am going to try that monday afternoon before i go to work.

Also is there anything specific that needs to be done since the parking brake is intergrated into the caliper? thanks
