97+ 4.2L motors can be swapped in.

I suggest just using the shortblock and swapping over the heads and intakes so that you dont run into sensor location problems and IMRC (You dont have IMRC's so you would need to use your intake anyways.)

Do a little research about the 97-99 4.2L as I think they had a couple issues but I cant remember specifics right now.

You should be able to use the shortblock from 97-09.

Now why not just buy a stroker kit and put it together?

That way you know how its been treated and that its a new motor.

Also DIY porting on the heads and intake is a good idea while you have everything apart.

What rip off shop quoted you that in MN????

Let me know where you are, I'll figure out a cheaper way to get a gasket done, or someone to swap a 4.2L in for you.

a shop in Granite Falls he said $800-$1000 for the head gasket, or around $600 to swap a engine, im about 30mins north of Marshall, i found a 3.8 from a 2002 with like 60k on it for $450, but i would rather find a 4.2, and i like your ex btw
