All it costs is money my friend. The guy I bought my car from made a big deal because the tune "is approved by Ford! It wont void your warranty!!" but the car has over 126k on it.......

But if the battery dies and I have to replace it........

LOL at 307 rwhp. Welcome to the forums, man.

Like everyone else said, the UDPs will lower the parasitic loss from your engine, thus freeing up some horsepower. The higher the % underdrive, the more power. Usually you have two choices, 25% and 42%. I went with the 42% and haven't looked back. If you look in the classified on a few sites, you can usually find someone getting rid of them cheap. I got my 42% set with the belt for $75 shipped.

As for your tune. You shouldn't lose the tune by disconnecting the battery... the guy gave you a bunch of **** about the tune and dyno numbers, unless you're blown and we don't know it. I'd recommend buying a handheld tuner as well. If it's between the pulleys and a tuner, go with the tuner hands down. You can also find these used relatively cheap, I found my SCT XCal2 (unlocked) for $110 shipped and got a custom tune from Justin @ VMP tuning for $80 (since I'm cammed, if you're not it's only $60).

I found the tuner and the UDPs right here on the MustangForums classified section.

As for the use of the tuners, typically you get the tuner and a cord to plug it in to your computer (A to B usb cable.) Who ever you have make your tune, assuming you get an email tune and not a dyno tune, will email you the tune file. you upload it to your device, then go out to your car. Plug the tuner into the OBD2 port and it will turn on. On the Xcal2, you press program vehicle, it will ask you to turn your car on but do not start the car (accessory mode essentially) then you select the tune and let it upload. when it's done just turn the car off, unplug the tuner and you're good to go. You don't have to do any tuning yourself.

Oh, and trust me, I didn't know too much when I came here either. Stick around the forums and you'll learn a lot. How long ago did you get the car? $5300 with that kind of mileage could get a GT around here. I had my car listed at $5000 with all my mods and only got a few hits. I knew it wouldn't get $5k though, lol

you can find a handheld on craigslist or in the classifieds, but i wasnt gonna trust someone in saying that it was unlocked, so i forked over 400 for mine lol. they are really simple to use.

and i wouldnt beat myself up over the guy you bought it off of either, your car looks nice, and as long as you are happy with it, its all that matters

Im 18, and I asked insurance if I could get a gt, and they said they would drop me. I wanted a 5 speed, and it took forever for me to find a 5 speed sixer coupe. When I saw this one, I jumped on it because I was selling my car and had to buy one quick. Its whatever, I'm happy with it, I just wanna mod it myself. Be my own mechanic, and do it right. I'm gettin there, I got 2 jobs and go to school, so I believe I'm pretty responsible. Thanks for all the help guys, btw. Shadow and Synester Mainly.

So what kind of numbers do you think I'm putting out?

catted h pipe, tune, and cai

That's good! I'm the same way, bought everything myself and have done all the work myself or with the help of some friends.

With those mods, you're between 170 and 180rwhp. With only my exhaust, I made 170rwhp. I'd put you at about 175, give or take 2 or so. I don't know how good your "tune" is based on your previous experience with the guy you bought it from.
