Start-up issues
So I jumped it, and it was able to crank and start up. So i'm assuming its the battery or alternator. All my lights and stuff turn on however, could I say that it's the battery? I'm about to head to autozone and have them test my battery and if it's low then i'll buy a new one.
I'm not exactly sure where the starter actually is?

If it stayed running longer than a few minutes after the "jump" car was disconnected, then it's most likely the battery. You only use the battery to start the car, the alternator provides power once it's running.
How cold is it up there in NY right now?
Your CCA rating might be low and of course on an older battery it weakens.
Mine last year for the 1996 Mustang was 550 Cold Cranking Amps and it started to crap out at about 20-26 degree's. One night it was -12 (The night my crappy Prestone premix slushed and froze) and it almost didnt start.
I wish it didnt start because thats when the head gasket popped.
Prestone never sent out the coolant test kit like they said there were.
Dont use Prestone if your area freezes.

btw, for those who dont know.
The 96' was swapped in a new 00' splitport build and we all know its next to rare that those head gaskets blow.
I checked the coolant and it looked just like a slushie.
