Default Getting the filler neck off th

The Rubber grommet on my 1995 Mustang 3.8 has dry rotted and fallen apart, i lose alot of gas very quickly. I am trying to take the filler neck off so that I can install the new grommet. But I cant manage to get the neck off. I cant push it further into the Gas tank, and I can pull it through the side of the car. I tried bringing it up through the trunk but there isnt enough room.

Could anyone help me on this please? Im tired of getting 10mi to the gallon I recently bought this car about 2 months ago and have always smelled a little gas on it, but I discovered my problem after filling the tank up.

I went to Suburban Ford here in Sacramento and got the new Grommet ( $17.97 ) and its a far cry from my rotted chunked out gommet with rubber hanging from it.

Any help and idea's are appriciated. Thanks guys.

Sincerely Eric.

really the only way to get to it if you are having problems with it through the trunk is to tackle it from underneath...however unless you have the luxury of a hydraulic lift its gonna be a bitch....plus you will have to remove your rear fascia(bumper) thats easy enough....just plastic clips and a few bolts here and there...if you want the hard labor instructions let me know id be happy to help you out with it....luv jenna
