Talking LED Dash light replacement

Was told it would look very nice if I replace the dash incandescent lights with LED bright lights. Had a couple questions about this though, can I just buy any LED light from Walmart and put it in there or does it have to be a special "Bright LED" light? Because the last thing I want happening is installing a bright light behind there and having it catch on fire back there. I know LED's are safe but I know electrical systems can always be finicky.

Here's a pic of the LED in Dash light, much brighter and looks sharp

LED bulb specs are Socket 194/168

Reason why I don't like purchasing online is because I'd rather be able to inspect the lights before I buy it. Plus I'm very impatient haha.

While I like my guages well enough I did do a google search and found something that might help you a little bit.

i got mine from superbrightleds.com, and i didnt have any problems with them. i even returned them and got a different color because i didnt like the color at first. and have you/are you buying that gauge insert thing? because the stock one is green and will mess up whatever color you are trying to get. another thing you have to consider is the degree the light is spread out, the wider the better.

i used the 74-xhp3 bulbs, found here http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...P3.html#photos

Yeah thanks that's the exact bulb I was looking at online as well, is it possible to find the same thing in stores? and no I was wanting to keep the same blue film to give it that bright blue glo so just planning on the "warm white" color. Would that warm white be bright enough? I would've assumed "warm" white would've meant a darker white but for those bulbs thats the only white they have

I didnt think I would like the idea too much but this actually looks pretty good.
Even my wife wants these now for her Mach 1 cluster.

I like the fact that its plug n play with the ones from superbrightleds.

The Cool whites look very nice!

oh yeah your 2000 should have blue inserts. and i dont know of any store that has them so i dont know.

i got my mach 1 cluster from ebay, came out of a wrecked mach 1.

and the cool white looks nice but i tried to match it with the hvac lights that i also had in cool white and they didnt come out the same, looked on the superbrightleds website and they are different wavelenghts for different bulbs so i just went with blue. i kinda what to go with orange though

edit: the pic of my cluster in my pics is with the cool white. i never got around to taking a pic with the blue but i like it

The Mach 1 cluster will work in any 99-04 Mustang but you need to disable PATS in the tune or take it to the dealership and have them mark down the miles of the old cluster then install the new cluster and change the pats and milage for the new cluster.

Shadow could you post a pic of the HVAC lights?

Was reading the VERY small print from the site and it says the incandescent bulbs emit 3000k lights, and the Cool Whites are a big 8500k output. Would having those close to the wires behind the dash cause them to burn? The "Warm White" is measured at 3300k.
