s.e.s. code p0401
hi guys i got the service engine light on and its giving me the code p0401 for insufficient egr flow. now after reading online that more than likely it would be the dpfe sensor and i replaced it with one from autozone (duralast) and after 15 minutes of driving the light came back again. i aso tried cleaning the egr valve reset the code and its back again any other ideas i already checked and all the lines look good.
You should give Seafoam a try to clean out those EGR bungs.
There is an EGR bung in each long runner on the lower intake, those can cake up over time closeing the tiny hole.
The most effective way to clean them is to remove the upper intake and clean them by hand.
Its also a great idea to do a major engine detal at the same time, be sure to block off the runners with duck tape so no water can get into the runner.
Its a good idea to put a rag or sponge in each runner in case a little water gets in.
Clean the upper intake out really well as well and check over all sensors.
Its like doing spring cleaning.
