Suspension - what's wrong?
About a year ago I had installed: Tokico HP Struts/Shocks, HR SuperSport Street Springs, Steeda X-2 Bumpsteer Kit, J&M CasterCamber plates. And right after the install it was bumpy as HELL.
I figured the ride quality would suck because most lowered cars do but this is something else... just the smallest bump feels like the car is falling apart. About 6 months later I took it back to a shop that specializes in suspension and they said everything looks normal except the front springs, when they had it on a lift the springs are stacked on top of each other instead of "releasing" and hanging slack like most springs. Is this what's causing the car to feel like every small bump is a pothole?
The reason I asked is because I've been reading other reviews of people with the same setup and they say they can barely feel any bumps, even potholes! So I'm figuring somethings wrong if my experience with them has been the exact opposite.
Also asked AmericanMuscle support and they told me the parts I chose should offer a very smooth ride quality. But for the past year I've been having to slow down to 15 mph to cross over bumps so I don't feel like my car's chassis is ripping apart...
(Extra).. also considered switching to Eibach pro kit but heard the ride quality is worse than HR/tokico
Also keep in mind this ride quality problem was from the start right after installation, before the springs even had time to settle.

They said its just going to be like that since its a stiff suspension like most lowered cars, which is what I figured at first but after reading everyone else's reviews about how great the ride quality is I have no idea what's wrong besides maybe the HR springs that were sent to me were bad. The other shop told me the same thing so the only reason I can come up with is the HR springs and tokico's were bad from the start
Was looking at other peoples pictures of their springs and it looks like the settled springs are hopefully the only problem, because its pressed in together and won't even release. Looks like AM accidentally sent me a bad set. I will go ahead and order my wheels next month and order another set the month after with maybe new strut.. I hope this solves the problem otherwise I'm wasting a lot of money lol. I'm disappointed since I've heard good things about HR and tokico

Yep, they are defective. AM is just a seller, it's the spring maker that should have caught the defect. Odds are the whole batch of those springs they made that day, or in that batch, are faulty. Odds are they mixed up the steel mixture if both springs are sagging. If they aren't rebounding then there is probably too much of a lighter metal and not enough steel which causes it to rebound. You should have called AM back for an exchange/return imidiately, now they can't and won't help you.
A big part of why I couldn't take it back out and ask for a refund is because I had a shop install all the stuff which cost me around $500. So I didn't want to spend even more money having it taken back out then reinstalled with new ones with more money. And AM has always had wonderful customer service when I had defective parts or parts I didn't end up needing. But yeah... the only reason I couldn't send these back is because it would cost me a lot extra to have it taken back out and put back in, and I didn't have the money for it at the time since I get paid monthly and had just started a new job.
and Jthorn.... I am completely jealous of your Stangs, those are all the ones I hope to collect someday. At least I have the '00 v6 now I just need the other two haha... and it'll definitely have to be white.

Question...why didn't you install it yourself...I cut the springs on my Cobra myself and did all the engine work on my 5.0, too bad I need a new engine now (old one died, previous owner was hard on it), but springs are not hard at all to do. If memory serves me right you only have to undo 8 bolts to remove the springs of which 5 are your lug nuts so really 3, 2 on the brake caliper, and 1 to drop the axel away from the spring.

Thanks jthorn I actually put one of those pics as my cell's wallpaper, great lot! And I didn't do it myself because I don't have the time or tools to do it myself since I'm a full time student and music teacher, and the car is my daily driver. Once I pick up my second mustang I will definitely be working on it myself so I don't have to worry about being without a car if I don't have to time to finish.

Haha, well if you plan on working on cars the minimal you'll need is a full socket set, metric and standard 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 (get star shaped if possible, more flexibility than standard hexagon sets. Full wrench set, metric and standard. A breaker bar. A torque wrench. Full screwdriver set (the ones with the interchangeable heads work best) flat head, phillips, torx, star, and a few others too.
Yeah I've got about half the things you've mentioned since I did handle the minor bolt ons myself, but anything deep below the car I haven't been able to get to. Only things I've done are bolt ons in the engine bay lol.
