Thoughts on buying a used K&N drop in, said to have 5.5k miles on it, appears clean in the pic?

I have that and mine has a good 13k miles on it. Didnt clean it until about 7k and it ran beautiful again. Plus side is you can buy a clean kit for about 17.99 at o'reillys. Depends on how much it is gonna cost ya?

I have a few cone filters for a bunch of our cars, they were all bought used and I was able to warranty them out at O'Reilly's and got new ones.

Check with your parts store and see if they are willing to do that for you.

If they wont and the filter doesnt have any large holes you can see light through then just clean it and re-oil it and throw her on.

Go for it, just make sure you clean it and reoil it. You can buy the oil at any parts shop.

You would warranty it out by bringing to a store claiming there is a problem with it and they might give you a new one, or they may want proof of purchase. Either way if you buy it second hand per K&N's warranty it is voided and really isn't an honest way of doing things (not surprised that Neo suggested this).

The K&N Filter flows better than stock, which lets the motor breathe a little better and perform a little better. I have heard K&N Claim almost 7hp gain on a 3.8. I don't buy it I would guess, having not looked at a dyno, maybe 4 or 5 at absolute best.

New cai typically add between 5-9 hp, depending on brand and such. Also warrantying them out very well might work, not exactly the same scenario but i have a bud that bought a car and needed a new battery so he took it to the store and exhanged it on the warranty. And also comp u need to quit making cracks at neo or u will end up banned, neo is making suggestions to help out fellow members of the mustang community, now if all u want to do is run ur ****ing mouth then get the hell off of the forums site

How do you take care of the k&n warranty? I bought mine new from o'reillys a couple years back but don't have the receipt lol. So I am basically screwed if anything happens to it unless o'reillys feelin generous huh?
