Id just go give it a whirl at O'Reilly's, see if they are willing to exchange

 

I have one of those sitting beside me... will not be used again... someone make me an offer.

 

You can just tell them you do not remember the phone number that you registered it under and they should replace it for you, that is their policy.

 

How often do you think I should replace it? It has atleast 10k miles on it and only cleaned twice.

 

isnt a K&N filter lifetime? Just clean it every or every other oil change.

K&N recommends every 50,000 miles on drop in filters and 100,000 miles on conical filters(filters you get with a CAI). Visual inspection every 25,000 miles to see if the screen is still visible.

 

Yeah, like Fink said, stick to what K&N says and visual inspections.
