Help with Mach 460
Hi, I'm new to the forum, so this might have been answered before.
I just bought a 2001 3.8 with the mach 460 system. After I purchased, I found out that the previous owner had for some reason cut all the stock plugs behind the head unit and wired in some crappy cd player in place of the stock deck, and they didn't even use a wiring harness. I probably should have tested out the stereo before I bought the car but I was more interested in out it was running. The only speakers that are currently working are the tweeters on the doors by the mirrors, and they aren't even working that well. My question is, where should I go from here? Is this something I might be able to take care of myself or should I take it to a shop? Thanks in advance!

What they did was remove the factory amps from the circuit. If you run an aftermarket stereo into them, your sound gets worse. The only speakers that aren't amp'd with the Mach 460 are the door tweeters.
Two options for you.
1) Find the stock head unit and try to match wires up. Double check to make sure the stock amp rack/speakers are still under the package try in the trunk as well.
2) Buy new (4 ohm) speakers for the stock locations and run your own wires to them.
