Default dtc 5284??? real concern?

I did the digital diagnostic read out(engine at full temp, running)

dtc 5284(oil pressure sensor) showed up, recent oil change(with penzoil synthetic, bosh oil filter) like 500 miles ago.

should it be a real concern? the oil gauge on the cluster is reading normal.

apparently its common faulty code in our cars but i just want to make sure..

ill check my oil level after i let it sit over night..

Could unhook your battery for a while and let your computer reset. Also if you start it a few times it may go away.

Its a common problem and most ignore it.

What you should do is one of two things.

1.) Replace it (they are pretty cheap, about the price of two-four cans of carb cleaner depending on if you buy OEM or aftermarket)
2.) Remove it, clean it off with some carb or brake cleaner and put it back in.

If you already have the carb cleaner, try #2, if you dont then just replace it because the cost of buying carb cleaner is going to be so close anyways and its going to be out so why not just replace it.

Be sure to call all three of the Big (might be 4 or 5 in your area) parts stores and price check, write down the cheapest two brands and prices of each and price check with each. The stores (AutoZone, Kragen/O'Reillys and Pep Boys for sure) will price match and offer 10% off.

The Motorcraft one (P/N SW5696) is $24.95 from Mustangs Unlimited to give you an idea of online pricing. LRS was over $30 dollars. Always check with your local parts stores first.

O'Reillys has it for $9.49, a true OEM sensor.

sensor is located right behind the power steering pump on the oil pump.

Side question... would be alright to remove the sensor and install the line for my oil pressure gauge? I wouldnt mind having a dead gauge in the cluster.
