Default Oil in Coolant??

I had a coolant leak on the passenger side water pump. I pull the water pump out and removed the studs. on the passenger side coolant comes out when i take the studs out. But when i pulled the stud out from the drivers side near the power steering pulley, it was covered with an oily sluge.

Is this normal or is oil leaking into my coolant? I cant tell from the coolant i drained if it is just dirty or if it has a light amount of oil in it. The stud i pulled out that was oily didn't apear to have any coolant on it either.

Thanks for your help

Yes that is normal but not good. That is the crap that can accumulate in the cooling system over the years. Be sure to flush the system while you are there

yup. flush it out and hope that no more of the sludgy crap comes around. make sure to check it from time to time after the flush to make sure the fluid stays clear
