Default cheap engine mods

Hey yall, I'm a 16-year-old from NC and I own a 1994 3.8L V6 convertible with an automatic transmission. This is my first car and I don't have a lot of money to spend on it, but I love working on it and racing friends' cars down back roads and such, so I have been wondering- what are a few of the best mods I can put on my stang for the most acceleration/speed improvement and the least money? So far iv put on a set of BBK underdrive pulleys and I feel like they've improved acceleration a little, and I have thought about an aftermarket ignition coil and new plugs and wires, but iv heard that OEM coils are just as good as aftermarket, so I don't want to waste money on them if they won't actually help.
So I would appreciate any opinions on these mods/any suggestions for other economically efficient mods.
Thanks!

Not a thing. you want power and or speed then you have to spend the cash.

Something like a Stage 2 or 3 kit from Super Six Motorsports is what you'd want and they run around $2500.

With that said, you have to pay to play. There are no cheap mods that yeild any real power gains. If you truely enjoy working on your car there is a "free mod" that only cost the price of gaskets, and about 48-60 hours of work your first time around, but it wil yeild around 10-15 rwhp. That's porting your heads and intake manifold as well as doing a valve angle job on the heads. Now this isn't exactly a simple mod and it does take a steady hand, and lots and lots of time to do, but that's the cheapest thing you can do that only cost the price of gaskets, and porting bits for a drill or dremmel.

So I'm assuming yall would say the ignition coil/wires/plugs won't really add any noticeable gains then?

Not unless they are making it bog down and sputter as is.

Only cost the price of gaskets, and head bolts... only run him about 250$ if he gets a good set of gaskets :P

Its also a lot more than what I would consider a "free mod" haha. Couldn't I just use the old bolts and replace the gaskets? Not that I'd be able to do the heads anyway, just because I drive my car everyday and if its out of comission for as long as this job would take, my brother and I would have to walk to school for a week. If I only did the intake manifold would anything change? I don't have the tools or frankly the expertise to take my entire engine out to port the head and exhaust manifold.

Not much with the intake plenum, the gains are in the head work. You can reuse the intake bolts but its a bad idea to reuse head bolts.

Well is there any way I'd be able to get the heads out without taking the whole engine out?
