I think the first thing is to figure out what parts you actually have both currently in the vehicle and what parts wer egiven to you.

Ford parts does show parts listings for remote start on 2000 and 2001 Mustangs. The color and part number of the module determine if it is Remote Keyless Entry, Remote Start, or Both. They also list a remote start wiring harness. All parts are listed for Auto Trans.

Unless they moved it the remote module is located in the trunk behind the left trunk finish/trim panel. You need to see what is really there already. You may need to simply get FORD OEM remotes. You can get a pair for around $20. But only if the RKE module is already installed.

As for the pieces given to you, what part numbers are on the module? The remote part numbers appear to be after market remotes not Ford OEM can't say about the module without a part number.

Green232 sorry not to hijack your thread, but Belairbrian how familiar are you with the 2001 code alarm system. Are the fobs programed through the module once installed, or do you program like the owners manual says. Reason I ask is I have that code alarm system, but can not get the car to go into key fob program mode, with the 8 turns of the key. I have no owners manual for the alarm, and to old to get it from them. I have tried.
