Exclamation Window One Touch Module Error? (1994 Mustang 3.8L Convertible)

Hi all, I have gotten by with my intermediate knowledge of my mustang for a few years now fixing little things here and there, but this one I want to get other more intelligent opinions before I go chasing all these parts for my drivers side window on my 1994 stang. What happens is my window just plain out does not roll down, and some days it does. On the days it does not, when I press the switch I can hear a faint clicking in the window module on the inside of the door panel, and I have also taken the door off and felt it clicking. My question is would a faulty one touch module be the culprit here? my window is still on track and the motor is healthy because the window moves effortlessly when it is working. I guess i'm just hoping there is another success story out there from another stang owner who has had this problem on a similar model. I just don't want to be buying new regulators and motors and switches if i can target the problem the first time around.

Really appreciate any help ahead of time, Thanks.

Ther still could be an issue with dirt or corrosion in the motor or switches causing intermittent operation. FIrst thing to do is pull off all connectors and check for corrosion. Remove any you find and see if the problem still exists.

If you don't want to fix it by swapping parts, it's time to get a mulitmeter and start checking signals.

When it doesn't work, do you hear the motor click when you press the switch? If so, then it is getting power, but the window is binding somewhere to the point where its not moving. If the motor is not clicking, then its probably not getting power. I say probably because a blown motor won't click either. Best way to tell if it is getting power is with a multi-meter.

With that said, my guess is that its a loose wire or connection somewhere between the window motor and the door switch. Disconnecting the wiring harness from the switch and cleaning it out is a good idea. Also add some dielectric grease when putting it back together to help prevent future corrosion from occurring. You can pick some dielectric grease up at your local auto parts store.

It also could be a bad switch (e.g. cracked/loose solder joint on the switches circuit board). I had a similar problem as yours on my truck a few years ago and it turned out to be a cracked/loose solder joint on the circuit board of the drivers window switch. I'm pretty handy with a circuit diagram, multi-meter & soldering iron so I laid some fresh solder down on the joint and it has been working flawlessly ever since.

Good luck...

ok thanks for the info, i checked the wire from the switch on the door panel and it gets power out when the switch is active, then the line that comes out of the one touch module to the motor does not have power in it while the switch is active. And i hear and feel the clicking coming not from the motor but the one touch module. the voltage meter idea has made me believe its the one touch module, and its bought and on the way.

Ill let you know how it goes
